You are being asked to participate in a survey regarding reasons individuals attend WorldCon. Your participation is entirely voluntary and you may refuse to participate, or may decide to cease participation once begun. Should you withdraw or refuse to participate, your decision will involve no penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. Anyone age 18 years or older is eligible to participate. Please read this consent form carefully before deciding to participate.


The purpose of this survey is to investigate the reasons individuals attend WorldCon. Participation will involve the completion of this brief on-line survey which asks you to provide basic demographic information and answer questions regarding your intent and expectations as a WorldCon attendee. Each participant may complete the survey only once.


There are no physical or psychological risks associated with participation in this research.


Every effort will be made to maintain the confidentiality of your responses. You will not be asked to provide your name or other personal information and your responses will be identified by a randomly generated number. The data collected from this study will be identified by this random number and not by your name.  All data will be used for educational and publication purposes, however, you will not be identified as a participant. Findings will also be provided to WorldCon and made available at future conventions.
